Seeing as everyone (or most everyone) on this forum is a fan of OSDM, I thought I'd just start a new thread where everybody can talk about there favorite old school death metal! My personal favorites are Cryptopsy-None So Vile, Deicide-Deicide & Legion, and Carcass-Necroticism Attachments:

I still enjoy listining to Immolations "dawn of possesion"!! Old Gorguts,Death,Pestilence,Grave, and Disincarnate are still among my favs also!! Everthing that death metal was about then was so brutally fresh . That's hard to find now!! I also think that Tampa Floridas "Brutality" is one of death metals most underrated bands!!Those guys were awesome!!

"Brutality" is great, but I think they just came into the scene fifteen minutes too late so they got overlooked.
I love Autopsy's "Mental Funeral". That's how doom-death should sound like.
Paradise Lost "Gothic" is also a fave.

But i do agree with Mal. Cryptopsy-None So Vile, Deicide-Legion and Deiced, and Carcass-Necroticism were just amazing. they blow my mind every time i listen to them. I also like the Carcass Heartwork album, but mainly just the songs Heartwork and Embodiment

Heartwork gets all the attention, but Necroticism was way better.

The scariest part is that all the samples on Necroticism are real, they're from actual documentaries. Plus, Jeff Walker is probably the best gore lyricist of all time, and Steer and Amott lay down the fire on this album like there's no tomorrow!

Heartwork gets all the attention, but Necroticism was way better. Heartwork was on Culombia records thats why. You can't beat a major label backing. Necroticism technically was an independent release. They were out of their contract with Earache after Symphonies Of Sickness and they recorded this with their own money. Earache decided to snap the band up again judging from the strength of Necroticism, but failed to properly promote it. I was still reading interviews with them talking about Necroticism almost 2 years after it came out. A few years later Earache sold a bunch of their artists to Sony Music, that went to their sub label Culombia Records.

Haha I said "Culombia" its "Colombia".
I used to have this thing in the 90's where I would listen to all of the first 3 Deicide albums in a row. That was cool.
