Just curious what gage you would use on a set up tuned in A? Not drop A just standard A.

I'm still messing around with what gauges I like but right now I'm using a 9 - 54, it's actually a 7-string set but I don't use the high E string...

My v-7 has 10 through 56. It's just the basic 7 string set but it works out great!!

Hey Marc I have a question for you, I guess the weather change up here messed with my Schecter v-7 because the action on the upper frets has almost doubled. I changed the strings and now it feels even worse. What should I do?

probably the best way to tell is to hold it up and look down the strings. since metal contracts when it is cold (and would probably make the strings bottom out) I would think that the only part that would have been effected by atmospheric change like that would be something made of wood. which pretty much would be the body or neck. probably got to adjust the truss rod. dont know what kind of wood schecter uses for its necks, but it might not be dense enough to compete with the contraction of the steel truss rod. Mark the nut and loosen it a couple of turns and see if that helps, that way you can put it back if it didn't.
then again... i'm no Guitar-ologist. lol

The neck Mahogony and the body wood is Korina. I figured it was the neck moving from the weather change. I hate trying to adjust guitars because they're such a pain. There's no one around here that I know of that's worth a shit at set ups either. I'll try marking the truss rod and adjusting it.. It sucks because it was set up so perfect!!!!

it could also be the humidity from your home heating system that's causing the trouble. better get a second opinion before you do anything. like I said, I'm no guitar-ologist. haha.
backing the nut off a little shouldn't do any damage, it's not like your tightening it or anything.

It's a set neck anyway so basically if the neck twists or warps then it's fucked!! That's what makes bolt on necks better because you can just slap another one on!!! I've heard a couple of people talk about Schecter necks warping. Hopefully it just needs to be adjusted. I haven't been too happy with it from the get go because it's not balanced properly. On a strap if you let go of it , the neck dives towards the floor!! Bullshit!!!! lol..
