Just wanted to see what kind of amps everyone is into!!! I like Peavy 6505 , Line 6 , Marshall, Rivera , and Engel!! By the way anyone interested in a Peavy 6505 120w head that's a little over a year old and never been out of my bedroom let me know. I paid 999.99 from American Musical Supply and will take 600.00. Perfect flawless condition!!!

I've been happily playing Engl and Mesa Boogie amps for many years. However, I got my hands on an Axe-FX recently and this thing rules! Forget all amp-simulations and stuff, this little machine is the real thing. No latency at all, great dynamic response, more tweaking possibilities than you'll ever need, and it will sound great plugged straight into the mixer or into any old power amp, plus all fx you'd want, all freely routable and with great sound quality. I didn't believe it at first either, but it's truly awesome. And I can go to the gig by train, instead of hauling refrigerators around.

The Axe-FX should be around 1500-2000. Here's the site: www.fractalaudio.comDepends on what you like and need of course.

I had an Engl Fireball, I've played a Powerball, and my friend had an SE, and I wasn't impressed with any of them. The SE was the biggest disappointment considering he paid close to $3000 for it and my Rivera shit all over it. Every Engl I've heard sounds like a super compressed mess. Most of them are "heavy", but you can get the same sound with a SS Crate for $2500 less.
I owned a Madison Divinity III and it was a pile of garbage. I sold it after a week. It sounded like a 5150 with way less balls. It was horrible. I've played the Prophecy and its good for a SS amp but it has zero cutting power.
I do like the Framus Cobra. It's really "modern" sounding, but you can get lots of different sounds out of it. I've had two of them. I sold the last one to get my other Rivera so I don't regret getting rid of it, but I will get another one at some point. It was a fun amp.

I couldnt agree with elektrokutioner more as far as rivera amps FmCKING CRUSHING they maintain a raw reality of tone that just says i'm the most badass amd all I really need is a power switch and a gain knob to prove it but the EQ makes a vast difference on the riveras more than any amp i've personally ecountered I hate mesa I think that every body ever is trying for that ultra compressed mesa sound and its bull shit if you use a mesa it dosent matter if you play thrash or black metal I hear that fucking mesa sound and it distracts the shit outta me, as I've stated before my amp is by no means the best but the versitality is un rivaled I have all the sounds that trey can make on any morbid angel album with none of the noise or rack space I'll sacrifice 2000 boutique hi-gain for noiseless replica gain thats just as good to me I'm very anxious to hear what an Ikon souns like through it.

dude if you can find a used one they're actually exceptionally affordable because it dosen't say engl or marshall or mesa on it. the thing that got me is when we recorded the new father befouled we could line amps up together and hear what they sound like with the flip of a switch and if you can do that with a rivera you'll see how next to any amp it'll cut through with crush and clarity like it has a great balance of boutique "fender style" I 'd like to hear every note in my chord with out sounding too compressed california style or fucking british I just enjoy the raw very tangible tone, I'd love nothing more than to be able to play on a Bolt amp though, or the Hughes&Kettner coreblade,or A 100w Marshall el34 power amp with a prophesy II or an Axe FX Tubes for life though.

I knew someone who had a Madison Divinity and from what I remember it sounded killer. He did run a KK EMG 81/85 with 20 db boost setup so maybe that helped?

@ Electrokutioner you definitely need to bring a Rivera when you visit Ikon so I can test out how an Ikon would sound on that! I only have a Line6 spider 2 and it sounds decent, especially for direct recording.
